Mechanization is very essential for agricultural
production for any country and if we talk about developing countries, from the
very beginning is has been neglected. Elements that cut the availability of
farm power contains the capability to cultivate enough land and have been a
reason for poverty, particularly in sub-Saharan Africa.
Improving the power sources for farming allows farmers to
complete more tasks in the available time and larger areas to produce better
quantities while conserving the other natural resources. Using new and
environmentally friendly technologies have enabled farmers to produce crops
efficiently with less use of power.
Ecological agriculture mechanization is significant for
contributing to the growth of d food systems and value chains because it has
the potential to improve postharvest, handling and marketing functions and
activities more efficiently, effectively using environmentally friendly ways.
Increasing mechanization does not essentially mean large
investments in buying tractors and agriculture machinery. Farmers just require
adopting the most suitable methods and ways for any operation as per the work
to be completed and on who is executing it. The level of farm mechanization
should be up to their requirements efficiently and effectively.
In some countries, women also play a significant role in
several agriculture-based communities. In some of these, they occupy up to
almost 80 percent of the entire farm labour, which also indicates that power
sources such as human, animal or technology-based, needs to be improved to such
requirements from an ergonomic, cultural, social and financial point of view.
The drop in labour is the main element of ecological mechanization and donates
to reduce women's workload by considering technologies use for their needs,
improving the access to suitable forms of farm power.
Sustainable agricultural mechanization:
- Different
types of modern farm implement like a Combine, Rotavator or Rotary Tiller,
Combine Harvester, Seeders etc. contribute towards increasing farm productivity
by helping timelines and quality of cultivation;
- Supports
opportunities to get rid of a load of labour unavailability and allow
households to survive shocks better;
- Reduces the ecological footprint of agriculture while united with suitable conservation
agriculture practices; and
- Reduces
poverty and attain food security with the improvement of farmer's livelihoods.
