Plough - Overview, History, Types and Manufacturer in India

Plough Overview

A plough is farm equipment that is used in farming operations for the primary cultivation in the process of preparing the soil for seeding or planting by turning it up and exposing to the sun.

The key objective of Ploughing the land is to turn up the upper layer of the soil to bring fresh nutrients to the surface and bury the remains of previous crops under the surface to break them down. In modern agriculture practices, the field is usually left to dry out after using a plough on soil an later on harrowed before seeding.

History of Ploughing

Agriculture is one of the oldest industries in the world and humans started to learn to plough fields before they could even write. Initially, humans were dependent on wild vegetation and used to roam around in search of wild fruits and vegetables.

But with the time they started to learn growing plants and the first step towards it was tilling the fields with a basic plough that was made with wooden and iron blades, later on, these were dragged by animals. With the revolution and development in technology, farmers started using a tractor and the plough was developed as a tractor implement that made the tilling work easy for farmers.

Types of Plough

With the development and increasing, use of farm machinery in agriculture plough has also been modified as per the soil and field types. Various types of plough have been invented on the basis of their functions and operations. The different types of plough used in agriculture are -

·        Disc Plough
·        Chisel Plough
·        Mould Board Plough
·        Reversible Mould Board Plough
·        Mounted Mould Board Plough
·        Reversible Manual Plough

Advantages of Plowing | Use Of Plough

Planting season is about to begin and farmers are ready to get out into the fields and start farming. Before they start planting the seeds they need to prepare the soil for the same and for doing this they use various agriculture equipment. Plough is one of them. Farmers plow their farm before they plant. Plough help farmers to give the best environment for germinating and growing. Ploughing breaks the dense and compact soil so that seeds root growth will happen easily.

use of plough

One of the best use of plough is to nurture the soil. Ploughing field helps turn natural matter into the earth to increase breakdown and add nutrients from the nonchemical material to the soil.

Many farmers scatter dung from cattle onto their fields. This dung is rich in nitrogen which is necessary for seedling growth. Plough turns the soil not only for mixing the organic matter, but also helps in increasing oxygen level into the soil which promotes the breakdown of the nonchemical matter and helps to produce more oxygen for the seedling roots.

One obstacle that farmers face is weeds in their field. Weeds struggle with the established yield for water and basic nutrients. It grows wild and squeezes out the wanted crop. One advantage of ploughing is that it can automatically break up weed sources and meddle weeds from developing. So, having fewer weeds can lead to risen earnings.

Use of Plough helps lower down the temperature of soil so that seeds will germinate. Farmers need to plant as quickly as possible so that they can maximize a small living spring and give their crops the best chance to be fertile. So the use of plough is an advantage for the farmers to increase their productivity and make good profits.
